VHD Protocol SDK™
Due for release: 2008 Q4
VHD Protocol SDK™ is a development kit that allows third-party developers to use different virtual hard disk delivery methods from the I/O server whilst at the same time making use of our advanced IT management. The version includes the following features:
-
Presently we used our innovative iVHD protocol technology for streaming the virtual hard disks to client computers. This runs on the UDP level protocol which provides higher-performance transmission to meet the demands of many computers simultaneously. It also provides excellent reliability and the flexible design includes load-balancing.
-
There are several other common protocol technologies which third parties may wish to develop for. One is the iSCSI which runs over TCP communication and is a widely used idustry standard. There is also ATA over Ethernet which runs on the MAC layer framework and delivers faster performance but is limit to regional networks.
Third party developers can make use of this development kit and develop their corresponding I/O services and virtual disk technology but at the same time enjoy the advantages of VHD's Virtual Disk back-end power.
